CHAIL PALACE
Chail is 45 km from Shimla though one can go directly to Chail from
Delhiby taking a turn at Kandaghat on Kalka-Shimla highway. Maharaja of Patiala
developed the beautiful countryside of Chail and also built the majestic Chail Palace
in 1891. The Chail Palace serves as a private mansion in about 75 acres
and the entry is now restricted. The Palace is a hit both with
honeymooners, families and for conferences. The accommodation varies from
from economical cottages to the top of the line Maharaja and Maharani
Suites.The Maharaja's palace was purchased by Himachal Tourism in 1972
and promoted as a premium heritage hotel.
The suites, rooms and cottages are sumptuously furnished with flamboyant antique furniture and wall to wall carpeting. The multicuisine serves Indian, Chinese, Himachali and Continental cuisine. There are quaint little fireplaces in most rooms, adding a little romantic touch apart from keeping one warm in winters. There is also a bar and a conference hall for upto 70 pax. For recreation there is the Children's park, lush green lawns for strolls, badminton, lawn tennis and badminton. Rooms available on room basis only. (Rates range from Rs 1300 to Rs 8000 + taxes).
